Vasten: Fasting Timer — Support

Need help with Vasten: Fasting Timer? Email denemio@gmail.com.

To help diagnose a problem, include the app version and build number, your iOS version, iPhone model, what you expected, and what happened. Screenshots are welcome, but please remove anything you do not want to share. Do not email your exported fasting history unless it is necessary for your support request.

Starting, correcting, and ending a fast

On the Today tab, choose a start time and target, then tap Start Fast. While a fast is active, tap Correct to fix its start time or target. Tap End Fast when you eat again and confirm the end time.

There is deliberately no pause button. Reaching a target also does not end the fast automatically; the timer continues until you end it.

Notifications do not appear

Open Settings in Vasten and make sure Target notification is enabled. The permission row shows whether iOS currently allows notifications. If permission was denied, open the iPhone Settings app and allow notifications for Vasten.

A target notification marks the selected target time. It never ends the fast automatically.

Live Activity or widget is not updating

Open Vasten once after installing or updating it. Check that Live Activities are permitted for the app in iPhone Settings. If a widget appears stale, open the app so it can refresh the shared fasting snapshot, then return to the Home Screen or Lock Screen.

The timer itself remains date-based and accurate even when iOS updates a widget or Live Activity less frequently.

iCloud synchronization

Fasting records are stored on your device and synchronized through your private iCloud database when available. For synchronization between devices, use the same Apple Account, enable iCloud for the app, and allow each device time to connect and update.

The developer cannot view or retrieve records from your private iCloud database. If synchronization still does not work, include the affected device and iOS versions in your support email—do not send your fasting records.

Exporting or deleting data

Open Settings → Export or delete data. You can export active and completed fasts as JSON or CSV, or permanently delete every fasting record. Individual completed records can be deleted from History.

Delete All Data removes records from the device and synchronizes that deletion through private iCloud. Previously exported files must be deleted separately wherever you saved them.

Fasting stages

The stages in Vasten are broad elapsed-time bands for educational context. They are not measurements of your body and should not be used for medical decisions. Timing varies between people and fasts.

Vasten is a record-keeping utility, not a medical device or medical advice. Stop fasting and seek qualified help if you feel unwell.
